Match 14, Jaipur

So there we have it - Rajasthan Royals claim their first win of the season as RCB remain winless at the bottom of the table. Despite the gallant efforts of Parthiv Patel (67 off 41), RCB couldn’t post a match-winning score batting first tonight. That was thanks in no small part to Shreyas Gopal’s magnificent spell of 3-12, including the prized scalps of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to superb googlies. Marcus Stoinis and Moeen Ali rallied late but their efforts, it would turn out, were in vein.

Jos Buttler got the home side off to a typically fast start before - like Gopal - Yuzvendra Chahal put the brakes on. But a Steve Smith anchoring role, plus some poor fielding from RCB, saw the Royals home with one ball to spare. Thanks for joining us tonight, we’ll see you again tomorrow!

MoM: Shreyas Gopal

Rahane: We thought 150-160 was a good score. After 3-4 overs we saw it was a bit slow and we knew it would be difficult for batsmen facing them (spinners). Overall I thought it was a pretty good team effort.

Kohli: Today was a more competitive performance but I think we were 15-20 runs short with the bat. If you make that many mistakes in the game you're going to end up on the losing side. In a tournament like IPL when you don't have momentum things can get difficult. The team hasn't got off to a great start...but we have to keep believing as a side.
