177/7 - 19.2/20 ov
Match 43, Kolkata

That concludes a gripping night at Eden Gardens and a superb win by Rajasthan Royals who lift themselves off the bottom of the VIVO IPL table. 17-year-old Riyan Parag (47 off 31) was immense for the visitors, and along with Jofra Archer (27* off 12) rode the Royals home with four balls to spare.

The result extends KKR’s losing streak to six and, after restricting RR to 98-5, arguably should have won this clash. Skipper Dinesh Karthik was amazing tonight for the home side, striking an unbeaten 97 off just 50 balls. But the innings - his highest in the IPL - was in vain as his seamers regularly failed to hit their lengths, paying the ultimate price. Thanks for joining us again tonight, we hope to see you again tomorrow.

MoM: Varun Aaron

Smith: We certainly made it difficult for ourselves. We lost too many wickets in clumps and a few of the boys saved our bacon. Riyan Parag, isn't he an impressive young man? He played very composed like a seasoned campaigner. And then some handy contributions from Gopal and Archer saw us home. Varun Aaron with the new ball was exceptional. We're just happy to get over the line. The first five or six games we weren't able to get over the line in the close ones. It can sort of make or break your season. We lost a few players now - Jofra and Stokesy are off back to England tonight.

Karthik: A little disappointed, I thought we were in it to win it but it wasn't to be. (In the last over) We were looking to go full at the stumps, and an edge didn't help. The second one was a good shot. A lot of it will boil down to how much they trust me as a leader and it's important you keep the mood of the dressing room good. Those are things we've done well as a team, we've been there and fought that.
