Match 53, Delhi

So that concludes a fairly comprehensive victory to Delhi Capitals, who give themselves a chance of finishing in the top-two with their five-wicket win today. Veterans Amit Mishra (3-17, Man of the Match) and Ishant Sharma (3-38) dominated with the ball, restricting the visitors to just 115/9. As a result, it was just a matter of patience for the Capitals in the chase, and despite some early wickets cruised home on the back of a brilliant 53* (38) by Rishabh Pant.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom for the Royals who, despite finishing the season on a losing note, have one thing to celebrate: Riyan Parag. The 17-year-old became the youngest ever player to bring up a VIVO IPL fifty, and stood up for his side when everyone else fell beside him. The youngster is a huge prospect for the future, and will almost certainly be batting higher than number six from next season.

MoM: Amit Mishra

Iyer: "Our players have become more open this season, and have a freedom to express ourselves. We're also keeping things simple, and that can result in less mistakes. The starts he (Dhawan) has given us have been great, and it's great to have him around the group, including his banter. Really happy with the way he (Mishra) bowled today."

Pant: "I'm always happy whenever I'm taking my team home with a good score. It's always special when you finish the match, and today I wanted to do it for my team. It always turns at the Kotla. After we lost early wickets we didn't (think of chasing the score within 10 overs). When your seamers take early wickets it's easier for the spinners to come in later and bowl well."

Rahane: "We had a tough season this year. We had out moments, but we can't blame this game. We have to come stronger next year and it's all about improving each season. I'm really happy (with the young guys) especially Riyan Parag - he really showed his character and was excellent today. We knew 145-150 on that wicket would have been difficult but we didn't quite bat to our plan."
